What is a bidet?

A bidet uses warm water to wash you after using the toilet, then a warm air dryer dries you. It's cleaner and gentler than toilet paper alone.

Do I need a warm water source?

No. SmartBidet connects to the same cold water line as your toilet and heats the water itself.

Do I need to plug it in?

Yes. SmartBidet plugs into a standard electrical outlet.

Do I remove my current toilet seat? 

Yes. SmartBidet replaces your current toilet seat.

What if I don't have an outlet next to my toilet?

The power cord is 3' 10" long. If it doesn't reach, we recommend having an electrician install a GFCI outlet near the toilet.

Does it have a warranty?

Yes. The SB-1000 and SB-2000 come with a 3-year warranty, and all other models come with a 1-year warranty. See our Warranty page for details.

How does Energy Saving mode work?

Energy Saving mode keeps the seat and water at a lower temperature (89.6°F) between uses. You can save more by closing the lid, using the Low settings, or unplugging the seat when you're away for a long time.

How do I clean it? 

Wipe it with a soft cloth and a mix of water and baking soda, or water and vinegar. Don't use harsh household cleaners, which can damage the plastic.

Can I install it on a toilet riser?

We don't recommend it. A riser can stress the seat and cause cracks.

How much will it add to my electric bill?

About $3 a month for a family of four, based on average use and electricity rates.

Do I need a plumber to install it?

No. Most people install it themselves in about 30 minutes, with no special tools needed.

What colors are available?

White.

Can I sit on the lid?

No. The lid isn't built to hold a person's weight, and sitting on it can damage the soft-close hinges.
